Nimble Farms is my retirement project. Growing food is meaningful work and since the 2021 growing season I have been learning the lessons, paying the price... just like anyone regardless of age would need to do. I am on 4 acres of sandy bottom land along the Alouette. I stared just growing cantaloupe the first year but since have branched out to include a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. My commitment is to build the soil biology through cover and green manure cropping so that the food that I produce is as nutrient rich as is possible.

Through trial and error, I have found that permanent no-till beds are the superior system for most crops, especially cool season crops. Hot season crops like tomatoes, peppers and melons require various techniques of controlling the temperatures in both soil and air. Each crop has specific needs both for nutrition and pest control. I do not use herbicides and use organic farming practices to control insects and fungus.
