Producer

The CEED Centre is a registered charity operating the CEED Centre Neighbourhood House and 4 community gardens. Executive director, Christian provides produce for the Society from his family's 3.4 acre Thornhill, Maple Ridge farm. The Sewing CEEDlings, a group of volunteers, make our cloth shopping totes and mesh produce bags from upcycled and donated materials.

We feed our family with the same produce that we grow for you. We follow ecological practices that focus on improving soil health to keep our produce healthy and happy. Christian has learned many organic techniques from courses taught at the CEED Centre by Gaia College and JADAM, the Korean Natural Farming method. He also follows recent discoveries about the soil sociobiome from leading scientists like Dr. Christine Jones from Australia. We currently rely on compost for soil fertility and are learning how to incorporate cover crops in its place. We grow in an 88 x 20 ft hoophouse and three crop blocks. Our egg laying chickens are kept safe from the coyotes in chicken tractors that are moved every day to fresh grass.
